STEP BY STEPFrom a notes folder to a visual brain

  1. Have your wiki ready

    This guide continues #5, linked at the end of the page. That is where you created your mi-wiki folder and started telling the agent about your day. If your wiki is new, the map will have few dots. That's normal: you have few notes so far.

  2. Download Obsidian, free

    Go to obsidian.md and select Download. There are versions for Mac, Windows and Linux. Install it like any app and open it. You don't need an account to use it.

  3. Open your folder exactly as it is

    On the start screen, find the option to open an existing folder (Open folder as vault) and choose your whole mi-wiki folder. Obsidian calls the folder you open a vault. It is the same folder you already use. You don't need to move or convert your notes: Obsidian reads them where they are. The only thing it adds is a hidden folder called .obsidian, where it keeps its own settings.

  4. Open the graph view

    In the left sidebar there is an icon of connected dots: Graph view. Click it, or use Cmd+G on a Mac and Ctrl+G on Windows. That screen is the map of your wiki.

  5. Learn to read the map

    Every note in your wiki is a dot. Every [[double bracket]] link between two notes is a line. The more notes link to the same note, the bigger its dot gets. Hover over a dot and its connections light up; click and the note opens. Find the biggest dot and ask yourself whether that note really is that important to your business.

    Look through the notes in my wiki and find topics that appear in several notes but are not connected with [[double bracket]] links. Show me the list of connections you propose and briefly explain why you propose each one. Wait for my confirmation: when I tell you which to add, add only those, without changing the rest of the text in the notes.

    Copy the whole message into Claude Code or Codex, inside your mi-wiki folder. The agent proposes connections first and adds only the ones you approve. Then open the graph view: the new links appear as lines on the map.

  6. Ask your agent for more connections

    If you see many dots and few lines, your map isn't broken: it means your notes still have few internal links. The agent can help connect them. Open your mi-wiki folder in the terminal, start Claude Code or Codex, and paste the prompt above. Review its list, approve the connections that make sense, and open the graph view again: the new lines are there.

  7. Watch it grow week by week

    The habit you started in guide #5 is what fills this map. Every time you tell the agent about your day and it creates a note, a new dot appears on the map. Over weeks you see the network grow and find connections you hadn't noticed: a client who shows up in three projects, a problem that repeats every month. Open the map now and then; it is your business seen from above.
