I want to…

put AI to work in my business

What you need, the exact prompt and what to check.

// THE SHORT ANSWER

You can give it real work: it handles your files, uses tools on your computer and hands you results like PDFs, emails, tables or to-do lists.

Who it's for
Business owners and founders who already installed Claude Code but don't know what to ask it for, or who still use it like a chat
Level
Beginner, you need Claude Code installed; if you don't have it yet, start with guide #3
Cost
You need Claude Pro, the same account as the previous guides. All seven tasks were done with Claude Code. To send email I used Resend, which has a free plan. The other tools I installed for these tasks are free and open source.

STEP BY STEPFrom asking questions to handing over work

  1. Before you start

You need Claude Code installed and a working folder. If you don't have it yet, start with guide #3, at the end of this page under Keep going. Create a folder for each task inside Proyectos: invoices, proposals, meetings. Move into that folder from the terminal (cd, space, drag the folder in, press Enter), type claude and press Enter. Whatever you put in that folder is what Claude can read. The rule I use for all of these tasks is simple: Claude proposes. I confirm. No email goes out, no file gets deleted and nothing gets published without my approval. The prompt below is the structure I repeat in every task; the seven prompts that follow are versions of it.

    prompt · hand over work

Task: [what I want you to do]. You have in this folder: [what files or data]. I want to receive: [the exact deliverable: a PDF, a table, an email]. Before you start, tell me what is missing and what you plan to do. Don't send, delete or publish anything without my confirmation.

This is the structure I use in all seven prompts. Only three things change: the task, the files Claude has available and what you want back. The last instruction matters: Claude shows you what it is about to do and waits for your confirmation.

  2. 01 · Create the invoice

What you need: your details (name or company name, address, email), your client's, the concept, the amount and the due date. Plus an example of the format: a previous invoice as a PDF or a screenshot of your template. Put it all in the invoices folder. What I got: a PDF with my own numbering, ready to send. I used to keep invoices in Google Sheets. With Claude Code I turned that format into a system that numbers each invoice, generates the PDF and creates a password-protected link for the client. You don't need to go that far: to start, generating the PDF is enough.

  3. 02 · Send the invoice

What you need: the PDF from the previous task and a way to send email from Claude. There are two ways to do it. Simple: Claude writes the email and you send it from your usual inbox. Automatic: you connect an email service through its API. I use Resend with my own verified domain; Claude sends the email from an invoices address on my domain, with the PDF attached, and blind copies me on my Gmail. What I got: the client receives the email with the PDF, I get the copy in my inbox and, if the client replies, the reply lands in my normal email. One important rule: if the link has a password, send it through another channel, like WhatsApp. Never in the same email.

  4. 03 · Turn a meeting into work

What you need: the meeting transcript. Zoom, Meet and Teams can generate one if you turn the option on before the meeting; if you only have a recording, Claude can transcribe it on your computer with the same tools as task 05. Save the file in the meetings folder with the date in the name. What I got: a one-page summary with the decisions, who owns what, the questions left open and a follow-up email ready to review.

  5. 04 · Prepare the proposal

What you need: your notes from the meeting or the diagnosis, a previous proposal as a format reference and your prices. You decide the price. Claude organizes and assembles the proposal; it does not decide what your work is worth. What I got: a proposal in two phases: a fixed-price diagnosis and three months of improvements paid monthly. Claude generated the PDF in Spanish and in English, ready to go over with the client.

  6. 05 · Transcribe a public reel

What you need: the reel link and two free tools Claude can install for you: one downloads the audio, the other transcribes it on your computer without uploading it anywhere. It works on Mac, Windows and Linux; on a computer with no graphics card it takes a few minutes per reel. It only works with public accounts. What I got: the transcript with the video details (author, date, length and the caption text) and, separately, the hook, the body and the close split apart. That lets me study how the reels I like are built before making my own.

  7. 06 · Compare tools

What you need: the list of tools you want to compare. I gave it screenshots of my Instagram saved folder; a list of names or links in a text file works too. Also tell it exactly what you need the tool for and how much you can pay. What I got: a table with each tool's official link, what it does, its price, how many GitHub stars it has if it is open source, and a warnings column. That last column turned out to be the useful one. That's where I found out that several tools advertised as free are only free if you install and maintain them on a server yourself.

  8. 07 · Sort your saved links

What you need: your links somewhere Claude can reach. I keep mine in the iPhone Notes app, which syncs to the Mac, and Claude reads them from there. The first time, macOS asks whether the terminal can access Notes; accept it, and make clear in the prompt that it is read only. If you use Windows or keep your links somewhere else, paste them into a text file. What I got: a table with each link, an explanation of what it covers, its topic and its status: reviewed, pending or discarded. Forty links I had saved over a weekend ended up as a list I can actually use.
